Founding Background

Arthur Gerstenfeld & the late Professor Raphael Njoroge

2005

Kenyans in the Diaspora start conceptualizing a housing development plan for development of residential houses and apartments in Kenya.

2006

Professors of WPI University, Prof. (Rtd) Arthur Gerstenfeld and the late Prof. Raphael Njoroge kick off idea of starting a University in Africa based on WPI Plan.

2006 – 2009

At WPI U.S-Africa Business conferences; the University development plan and Housing development plan advance.

2009

The University Development Plan and Housing Development Plan merged to become the University Town Development plan through an integration Sustainable System that was inspired by the WPI university founding in 1865.

2010 - 2011

Master Development Plan (MDP) created from Integration Sustainable System and Kenya Constitution 2010.

2011 ONWARD

MDP 9 Primary Resources development.

2013 - 2015

  • Founding Professor Raphael Njoroge passes on (2014).
  • Founding Professor Arthur Gerstefeld Retires.
  • Over 500 Diaspora Kenyans register to be Town House Developers.
  • 5 Main Plans started: Town, University, Medical Hospital, Design-Build and SMEs.
  • Taita Taveta County Assembly approves the Kenya University Project - Institution Town Development Plan, May 2015, in accordance with Kenya Constitution 185 (4).

2016 – 2019

  • Ndara B Community joins project as a co-founder of the University and Town through land grant.
  • Diaspora University Trust created (2016). Registered (2017) and Incorporated (2018).
  • Diaspora University Town development office open at Voi (2018).
  • NEMA – Strategic Environment Assessment (SEA) (2018 – 2019). Approved (2019).

2020 – ONWARDS

Diaspora University Town development progresses.
